COVID-19 Update. September 7
It is with a heavy heart that we must say our kickoff event on September 26 will be postponed due to Covid-19 spikes in Anderson County. We could not in good conscience try to bring hundreds of people together for a shared meal while the virus rages and our health care system is extremely burdened. We will update this page with a new kickoff date very soon. Until then, we wish you and your family a safe & healthy autumn season.
On September 26th…
Where?
Our first Periodic Table will be held at Bissell Park in Oak Ridge on the last day of the Secret City Festival. Food trucks will be available and a special section of the grounds will be set aside for sharing our post-pandemic stories. Discussions will be held at 1:15 PM, and 3:15 PM, and we may add additional timeslots depending on RSVPs.
Who?
Tables will have “sponsored storytellers” who have been especially invited to share how the pandemic effected them, physically, emotionally, and otherwise. This group will include people who had pronounced struggles due to the pandemic, whether it be loss of business, loss of income, extreme isolation, or working on the front lines. The stories of these struggles are especially valuable; so we want to be sure that they are heard and represented at our tables.
Our goal is to come together at the table, your story is also valuable, and we hope that you will bring it to the table, knowing that there is no expectation to share. If you simply want to come and listen, we can’t wait to have you at the table!
Join us!
Arrive early and enjoy music from many of our citiy’s faith communities on the hour. Have your food from the food truck ready, and join one of these meaningful table groups. We can’t wait to meet you!
