RSVP: Gran Torino Conversation

Our American Roots

Will be hosting a screening of the film Gran Torino (Rated R for language and violence) on Thursday, May 29th at Pollard Auditorium in Oak Ridge.

Doors open at 4:30 PM and the movie will begin at 5:15.

Oak Ridge Periodic Tables has agreed to facilitate a community conversation following the movie to discuss it’s themes. The event is free.

The film addresses several difficult and noteworthy themes, including racism, prejudice, white flight, violence, religion, ageism, and more. Our post-screening conversation plans to dive deeper into these themes, as well guide us toward understanding our relationships as a community. We will even discuss the deeper ideas of American life that surfaced behind the scenes during films.

Using our existing format, the conversation will consist of three discussion-based questions coupled with a catered, light meal.

Because space is limited for the conversation, an RSVP is required.

Please arrive ready to be challenged, to grow, and to build community with each other in a spirit of fellowship, curiosity, and peace.
