Remembrance Dinner and Community Memorial

June 21 @ the Grove Theater

It seems like maybe the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic is past us. There were days that felt impossible, but here we are still standing. Even as the pandemic is not yet over, the simple fact that we can gather again is reason to celebrate. Life feels as though it is returning to normal…

But for the many people in our community who lost someone (or multiple someones) in the last two-and-a-half years, whether to COVID or another cause, we're left with an empty seat at family dinner tables, and a hole that cannot be filled. For some, the pandemic denied us the chance to say goodbye, or to hold a funeral, or it simply robbed us of precious time.

We're inviting those who've lost someone since the pandemic began to join us for dinner on June 21st at the Historic Grove Theater. We want a chance to celebrate those we've lost, to remember, and to talk openly with those who've lost someone also, who perhaps understands how it feels.

We’ll close out our gathering by lighting a candle in honor of the ones we lost during the pandemic, and we will do this on summer solstice as a way of honoring the fullness of their lives and what they brought to us in their journey.

Dinner will begin at 7:00 PM, with a short candlelight memorial service to follow. The Grove Theater is located at 123 Randolph Road in Oak Ridge, TN.
